The Wise Washerman by Deborah Froese
This is a folk tale from Burma. This story is about a hard working man, Aung, whose job is to wash clothes. He does such a great job that the king only trusts him to wash his royal clothes. Aung's neighbor is very envious of his neighbor so he tries to come up with a plan to have Aung exiled from the village. In the end his neighbor failed and ended up being the one who was exiled from the village and Aung became even more loved and trusted by the king. This is a great story to use in the classroom to talk about envy and greed.
